SACRAMENTO – While no one hit last night’s MEGA Millions jackpot, one lucky winner in Los Angeles did win well over a half-million million dollars. That ticket matched five of six numbers – missing only the Mega number – and is worth $556,461.
The winning ticket was sold at Sheltams Books, last year’s California Lottery Retailer of the Year. Sheltams is located at 6333 West 3rd Street, #818. The winning numbers on the ticket are 9, 33, 51, 53, 56 and the Mega number – the only number the ticket did not hit – was 39. No one matched all six numbers, and Friday’s jackpot is worth an estimated $145 million.
The California Lottery wants to remind winners to sign the back of their tickets, keep tickets in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit their local Lottery District Office as soon as possible. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes.
MEGA Millions is a multi-state game, played in California and 11 other states. Players pick five numbers from a field of 56 plus a Mega number from a field of 46. Draw times are Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. PST. Tickets are $1 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers.
