TV Show Home Show Segments Winners Make Me a Millionaire Mall Tour FAQ TV Stations

On January 17, 2009, the California Lottery debuted its new game show, Make Me a Millionaire.

With new, fast-paced and engaging games, players will have more opportunities to win!  Soon viewers at home may have a chance to win too, with new interactive game-play.

Players on the show will still have an opportunity to play for at least $1 million on every show.

Q: When did the first Make Me a Millionaire show air?
A: Make Me a Millionaire premiered on January 17, 2009.

A: Click here for station and air time information in your area. You can also view whole episodes on YouTube.

Q: How do I become a contestant on the new show?
A: There are two ways to become a contestant:

  1. Play the Make Me a Millionaire Scratchers game. If your ticket contains the words "TV SHOW" three times, you will be a contestant!
  2. Purchase a $5 Fantasy 5 ticket and receive a coupon that makes you eligible for a second chance drawing. Mail the coupon and, once its received by the Lottery, you are entered into a drawing that might send you to the show.

Q: How much can I win on the new Make Me a Millionaire TV show?
A: Every contestant on the show is guaranteed to win at least $2,000. Contestants also have the cnace to win a car on the Lucky Penny segment. The top prize on the Millionaire segment starts at $1 million, and, if no one wins it, it will grow by $200,000 each show until it is won.

Q: How long will it take to hear from a Lottery representative about going to the show if I have a winning ticket?
A: Lottery representatives will contact you within four to six weeks after receiving the winning ticket.

Q: How do I know if I was selected in the Fantasy 5 second-chance drawing?
A: You will receive notification from the Lottery’s Draw Management team.

Q: How many winners are on the new show?
A: There will be 12 players on each show, and each player will win at least $2,000.

Q: Has anyone won yet on Make Me a Millionaire?
A: Yes! Josefina Sineriz of Bakersfield was the first player to hit the progressive jackpot on the Millionaire game. Josefina took home a jackpot of $2.8 million. Chcick here to see other winners.
